SUMMARY:How a Place Makes Us Feel\, Virtual CEU from Kimball
DESCRIPTION:How a Place Makes Us Feel\, Virtual CEU from Kimball\nFri\, Apr 3\, 2020\, 12:00 PM EDT \nKimball Will be hosting Virtual CEU’s throughout the month of April. \nKimball is pleased to offer both educational materials and specific trainging/classes to help expand your knowledge of factors influencing office furniture and the way people work. \nCEU credit – 1 hour Subject Code: 1. Theory & Creativity 4. Psychology Designation: Health\, Safety\, Welfare Learning Level: Intermediate \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nCognitive scientists have learned a lot about how physical environments influence our mood and\, through our mood\, how we think and behave. Science-based findings can be applied in practice to develop places where people perform to their full potential and have other positive working experiences. Rigorous research effectively details how design can\, via mood\, improve collaboration with others\, concentration on solo work\, job satisfaction\, employee engagement\, and trust in employers and co-workers\, for example. This course translates cognitive science research that can be used in practice from “science-ease” into everyday language so it can\, in the economic context of efficient real estate management\, be utilized now and in the future to create places where people work well and feel good while doing so. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand how environmental psychology research informs the psychology of space to affect moods.\nBecome familiar with how the power of design and sensory experiences affect mood and\, via mood\, employee performance\, job satisfaction\, engagement\, and trust in employers and coworkers.\nRecognize the design universals that optimize sensory experiences to encourage positive moods.\nBe able to integrate relevant science-based findings and real world concerns\, to support desired emotional experiences and boost human performance.\n\nThis course is approved through IDCEC for credit with IIDA\, ASID and IDC and is also AIA CES approved LU | HSW \nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDate And Time\n\nFri\, Apr 3\, 2020\, 12:00 PM EDT

SUMMARY:Heart of the City 5k Run | Update to be a virtual gathering.
DESCRIPTION:The safety and wellness of our community are our top priorities. Given the recent developments of COVID-19 California Hospital Medical Center will be transitioning this event to a virtual gathering.\nMore details to be announced. \n\nThe Need\nCalifornia Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) is making a difference each day by serving the needs of our ever growing community. A nonprofit community hospital founded in 1887\, CHMC has led the way to a healthier future for all who visit\, work\, or live downtown. Proceeds from this year’s event will enable CHMC to further its work as a center for health and wellness\, delivering exceptional care\, and improving the quality of life for all Angelenos. \nThe Opportunity\nBring your friends and family (and dog) and participate on Saturday\, March 30\, 2019 as you join over 3\,000 other runners and walkers to fill the street of downtown Los Angeles in support of CHMC. \nThis year\, 100% of the funds raised from this event will help build a state-of-the-art\, four-story patient care tower. The hospital needs space to expand critical departments\, including the only full-service trauma and emergency center in downtown and our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)\, which cares for the tiniest\, most fragile newborns.  Your support will translate into life-saving care for our most vulnerable patients\, including babies born prematurely as well as children and adults of all ages facing a severe illness or injury.

SUMMARY:Weingart Gala
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Weingart Center’s Annual Fall Gala at the Beautiful Vibiana in Downtown Los Angeles Featuring Great Music\, Cocktails & Amazing Food from Chef Neal Fraser. This year we will honor two amazing champions: \nTim McFlynn\, who was one of the original founders of the Weingart Center in the 1970s\, will receive our Visionary Award.  Kevin de León\, President por Tempore Emeritus\, will receive our Changemaker Award for his efforts towards eradicating homelessness. \nProceeds from this event will provide much need support for the Transitional Housing\, Job Assistance\, Counseling and Mental Healthcare Services for thousands of people throughout Los Angeles who are experiencing homelessness. It costs more to leave someone on the street than it does to help them transition back into society. By working together we can help individuals regain their confidence and become self-sufficient and break the cycle of homelessness.
