SUMMARY:Weingart Gala
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Weingart Center’s Annual Fall Gala at the Beautiful Vibiana in Downtown Los Angeles Featuring Great Music\, Cocktails & Amazing Food from Chef Neal Fraser. This year we will honor two amazing champions: \nTim McFlynn\, who was one of the original founders of the Weingart Center in the 1970s\, will receive our Visionary Award.  Kevin de León\, President por Tempore Emeritus\, will receive our Changemaker Award for his efforts towards eradicating homelessness. \nProceeds from this event will provide much need support for the Transitional Housing\, Job Assistance\, Counseling and Mental Healthcare Services for thousands of people throughout Los Angeles who are experiencing homelessness. It costs more to leave someone on the street than it does to help them transition back into society. By working together we can help individuals regain their confidence and become self-sufficient and break the cycle of homelessness.

SUMMARY:Metropolis Perspective: Sustainability Los Angeles
DESCRIPTION:Metropolis Perspective: Sustainability Los Angeles \n\n\n\n\nJoin Metropolis Magazines full-day symposium and shape the future of sustainability. Setting higher energy efficiency goals\, promoting social equity\, and building resilience. \nOctober 30\, 2019 \n9:30am-6:30pm\nSCI-Arc \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nENERGY EFFICIENCY: How can we set even higher goals? Join our conversation and shape the future of sustainability.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the public; space is limited. \nThe A&D industry has been focused on energy savings since the start of the sustainability movement\, and this was a core tenet of the USGBC and LEED. Now with the support of both the private and public sector\, we are part of policy initiatives and new codes and are finding unexploited opportunities for energy savings and energy generation. What are some of the new goals and priorities for energy efficiency in architecture and design? \nCEUs: 2 AIA\, IDCEC\, and LFA CEU HSW credits available \nAgenda: \n9:30am- 10:00am: Registration \n10:00am-10:15am: Keynote (Russell Fortmeyer\, Principal\, Arup; Faculty\, SCI-Arc) \n10:15am-11:15am: Panel Discussion (ENERGY EFFICIENCY) \n11:15am-11:45am: Q&A + Closing remarks \n11:45am- 12:45pm: Networking/Lunch following discussion \nSpeakers: \nDan Heinfeld\, President\, LPA \nStet Sanborn\, Principal\, Engineering Discipline Leader\, SmithGroup \nKellie Ballew\, Director of Sustainability\, Shaw Industries \nAnita Snader\, Environmental Sustainability Manager\, Armstrong World Industries \nIn Association With: Sci-Arc & International Living Future Institute \nPlatinum Sponsors: \n3Form\, Armstrong Ceilings\, Shaw Contract\, Tarkett\, Teknion\, USG \nGold Sponsors: \nAquafil \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nSOCIAL EQUITY: How can sustainability build communities? Join our conversation and shape the future of sustainability.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the public; space is limited. \nIn the bigger picture\, it is clear that sustainable architecture and design cannot thrive without cultural change and touching the lives of people. At the same time\, unsustainable practices only worsen social inequity and pit people against each other when resources are scarce. While social impact is widely acknowledged as an important aspect of sustainable design\, how can we measure and validate this impact\, and then amplify it? \nCEUs: 2 AIA\, IDCEC\, and LFA CEU HSW credits available \nAgenda: \n12:00pm- 1:00pm: Registration + Lunch and Networking \n1:00pm- 1:15pm: Keynote Rita Kampalath\, Sustainability Program Director\, LA County \n1:15pm-2:15pm: Panel Discussion (SOCIAL EQUITY) \n2:15pm-2:45pm: Q&A + Closing remarks \n2:45pm- 3:30pm: Networking/reception following discussion \nSpeakers: \nAngie Brooks\, Principal\, Brooks + Scarpa \nRand Ekman\, Principal and Chief Sustainability Officer\, HKS \nTracy Backus\, Director Sustainable Programs\, Teknion \nMike Johnson\, Director of Sustainability\, 3Form \nIn Association With: Sci-Arc & International Living Future Institute \nPlatinum Sponsors: \n3Form\, Armstrong Ceilings\, Shaw Contract\, Tarkett\, Teknion\, USG \nGold Sponsors: \nAquafil \n2 AIA CEU HSW credits available \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nBUILDING RESILIENCE: How can we adapt to changing natural systems? Join our conversation and shape the future of sustainability.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the public; space is limited. \nIn the past\, architecture and design have often sought to keep nature outside and to insulate our living and working environments. But those buildings and structures don’t stand up well in the face of the inevitable natural events of fire\, floods\, earthquakes\, or storms\, and have a long-term negative impact on the environment that only makes the disasters more frequent. So in recent years\, we have changed strategies and are starting to work with nature rather than against it. What have been the successes of resilient architecture and design\, and what opportunities lie ahead? \nCEUs: 2 AIA\, IDCEC\, and LFA CEU HSW credits available \nAgenda: \n3:00pm- 4:00pm: Registration + Networking \n3:45pm- 4:00pm: Keynote Anthony Brower\, Director of Sustainable Design\, Gensler \n4:00pm-5:00pm: Panel Discussion (BUILDING RESILIENCE) \n5:00pm-5:30pm: Q&A + Closing remarks \n5:30pm- 6:30pm: Networking/reception following discussion \nSpeakers: \nShara Castillo\, Principal\, ZGF \nKate Diamond\, Civic Design Director\, HDR \nSean Quinn\, Senior Associate\, Sustainable Design Leader – Pacific Region\, HOK \nRichard Murlin\, Sales Director\, USG Ceilings Plus \nRoxane Spears\, Vice President Sustainability North America\, Tarkett \nIn Association With: Sci-Arc & International Living Future Institute \nPlatinum Sponsors: \n3Form\, Armstrong Ceilings\, Shaw Contract\, Tarkett\, Teknion\, USG \nGold Sponsors: \nAquafil \n2 AIA CEU HSW credits available

SUMMARY:IFMA "Facilities Management the Future- Solving the Talent Gap"
DESCRIPTION:“FM the Future- Solving the Talent Gap”\nEveryone has been discussing the talent gap for years. Learn how the gap affects you- in a positive way. \nResearch shows an annual gap of approximately 6\,000 FM workers in California. Keeping up pace with the looming loss of FMs requires faster more targeted upskilling and talent management than ever. It will take a village and a community of FM professionals dedicated to solving the problem. The International Facilities Management Association Foundation’s Global Workforce Initiative (GWI) has created that village and we are working with business educational institutions\, government agencies\, economic and workforce development\, and\, most important y\, International Facilities Management Association San Fernando Valley members and chapters like International Facilities Management Association San Fernando Valley to provide new approaches to tack e the talent problem ensuring that we have the FM workers for today and in the future. This initiative addresses the triple bottom line of Economy\, Equity\, and Environment. Meeting the FM talent demand is critical to the energy efficiency of more than 10 billion square feet of commercial buildings in California. This session will showcase how the International Facilities Management Association Foundation and International Facilities Management Association San Fernando Valley are making a difference in the FM talent gap while at the same time positively impacting California’s bottom line. \nDATE \nWednesday September 18\, 2019 \n5:30PM · 8:00PM \nLOCATION \nWarner Brothers Studio Plaza Building\nKnowledge Center\n3400 Riverside Drive\,\nBurbank\, CA 91505 \nHost: Miguel Maldonado \n\nMember Facility Managers: No Charge\nNon-Member Facility Managers and Professionals: $20.00\nAssociate Members: $35.00\nAssociate Non-Members: $40.00\nMember Guests: $35.00\n\nSPEAKER\nDiane Levine\nMCR- Executive Director IFMA Foundation[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Diana Levine\, Executive Director of the IFMA Foundation has been actively involved in and is one of the pioneers of the foundation’s Global Workforce Initiative.
