Advances in cognitive science and its application through cognitive ergonomics have important ramifications for the design of modern workplaces. This session will introduce the participants to the science of cognitive ergonomics (CE); describe the basic principles of CD; and relate how design of workplaces can benefit from understanding how human’s minds work to support minds at work.

How the brain works:
Sensation and perception; vision, comprehension, hearing integration of visual and audial cues.

A former Ethnographic Anthropologist, Holly’s approach to facilities is holistic and geared toward problem solving. Professionally skilled in AWS, “Alternative Workplace Strategies”, a platform for forward-thinking companies with a mobile workforce component, Holly is thrice published and a leader in her industry. a former professional athlete and two-time Past President of IFMA SFV, Holly strives for excellence in everything she does. Holly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sacramento State University and an honorable mention from UC Davis Med School’s Russian-American studies. Holly has worked as a Market Sales Manager for Kimball Office since 2001 and is certified to present the award winning “Minds at Work” research, “Minds at Work” is a non-prescriptive look at how the human mind juggles individual focus, collaboration, and space.
