Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Solutions
Overview
Businesses today rely heavily on technology and their data to run their business as well as make money, but in the event of a business interruption, or catastrophic loss of use of systems and or data due to hardware failure or ransomware, businesses can be crippled or suffer irreparable damages. United Imaging offers solutions for both Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery that range from simple, all-inclusive to modular to meet the specific needs of our clients. A few of these solutions are highlighted in this document.
The solutions below are just a few of the ways UI helps our clients stay in business. Every business has a different risk and cost tolerance, so UI has a solution for every need and budget. Each solution is configured to suit because no two companies are the same and no two solutions should be either.
CloudDesk
CloudDesk offers a synchronized data backup solution that mirrors your data to a private cloud over the public internet via encrypted transit. Data can be synched on a folder to folder basis, or an entire file server’s data can be synced to the CloudDesk server-cloud to act as a sharing AND data backup solution. Your data is stored complete with a version history of each document, even if not all data is shared directly with your end users. Data is synched to the cloud in real time, as files change, on a file by file basis. Nationwide data centers with redundant servers provide distributed data points allowing you to keep working even after a disaster occurs in your geographic region and CloudDesk also offers a choice of international data centers, if desired. CloudDesk is licensed on an annual basis.
Backup Virtualization
UI’s Backup Virtualization service utilizes image-based backups to both a local appliance(s) and encrypted cloud-based storage servers. The cornerstone local appliance is configured specifically for you and installed at your facility to accommodate the number of systems and total data storage capacity you wish to have protected. Backups are to the local appliance are constantly running and synchronized to the cloud in in the background, on a real-time on a customized schedule to protect your bandwidth requirements during the work day. In the event of a loss, a virtualized instance of a system, or multiple systems, can be powered up from the local appliance or from the cloud. The option to keep your data local only and not sync to the cloud is also possible but there are few instances where we would recommend this because an entire environment can be run out of the cloud-based data center for as long as necessary in the event of a disaster. Unlimited cloud storage plans make take the worry out of changing costs; UI’s BV solution is licensed for on a fixed fee 3-year basis.
Data Vaulting Partners
United Imaging works with several Data Center and Data Vaulting Partners that can provide several different service solutions ranging from colocation services, to vaulting to system mirroring. Many companies choose to reduce their local infrastructure and move system to Data Centers, having a minimal onsite footprint. Whether physical or virtual systems are employed, critical servers can be housed in regional or nationwide data centers to minimize the risk of a local disaster or outage. Data Vaulting can be as simple as a mirroring a server or off-hauling data to a remote storage site or can include manual backup media management for security and compliance reasons. Each client’s needs are different and each solution, and vendor partner, will be carefully selected and proposed based on your needs. Data Center service agreements are typically multi-year while Data Vaulting can be month to month.
